We are not the only animals that stretch. You might see pets at home or animals on tv stretch. Stretching feels good because it activates your nervous system, increases blood flow to your muscles and possibly releases endorphins. It relieves stress, improves flexibility and has other possible benefits.

You muscles need a stretch before doing intense work. If you don’t, you can damage the muscle.

humans and animals that felt pleasure in stretching before activity survived better than the extinct non “stretching pleasure” cousins.

They actually say stretching before intense workouts can be more dangerous than just warming up the muscles and you should stretch after working out or running

Just like animals, humans needs to stretch just so they can lessen how their arms or legs feel dead after not using it for hours. For example when you sleep or when you sit for longer hours. It also helps with the blood flow in our system.
