Kids take naps and generally sleep a lot more than adults. If you tried to get a kid to do the level of activity that a working adult does (relative to their size) for 8-12 hours straight they’d never get through a shift. Light aerobic exercise for relatively short bursts with no requirement of focus is easy. And kids are designed to do that because it’s how they develop physically and socially at that age. Like Montessori says ‘play is the work of children.’
