From what I understand, women’s lacrosse rules are pretty different, and one of the ways it is different is that there’s not as much hitting, or “checking”, like you might see in men’s lacrosse, or hockey, for instance. Well, in lacrosse, checking has the potential to knock the ball out of the little pocket on the end of the stick. In women’s lacrosse, since hitting is different, they aren’t allowed to have a pocket in their stick as deep as a man’s stick – otherwise, since contact isn’t the same, the ball would be more difficult to get out if it was the same depth as in men’s lacrosse.
