The reason why males have nipples is because nipples are formed during fetal development before it is determined whether the fetus will be male or female.

During the early stages of fetal development, both male and female fetuses have the same basic body plan. This includes the development of nipples and mammary glands, which have the potential to produce milk.

In females, these structures continue to develop during puberty under the influence of hormones such as estrogen, which causes the growth of breast tissue and the production of milk. However, in males, the mammary glands do not develop further and remain inactive, which is why they typically do not have noticeable breasts.

So, even though males do not use their nipples for milk production, they still have them because they are formed during early fetal development and are a basic part of the human body plan for both males and females.
