why do men get the “shivers” while they pee?

Until recently I thought the concept of the pee shiver was a universally accepted fact. However, in a recent conversation with my wife, I realized that she has never heard of this before. I have had the idea confirmed by multiple of my guy friends that have also get shivers from time to time while they pee. Someone please eli5 so I can relay the information on to my wife.

I used to get these quite often when I was younger. Don’t remember the last time it happened to me now though… been a long time.

I remember reading, although can’t remember where, that it happens because peeing transfers enough heat out of the body to trigger the shiver reflex. Can’t really vouch for the veracity of that, though.

I do not know about the woman shivers etc. But for men. It is because when we pee, our nervous system reacts, and when the penis gets errect, it is because it triggered our nerves. When our nerves get triggered and we feel urine coming out, it kind of is an relaxment, of letting go of the urine build up. Because when our urine was building up it causes tightness which makes us worried, when we urinate, we let go of our urine and we tend to calm down, while calming down, it might make us shiver a bit.
