Why do men lose interest in sex/sexual arousal immediately after orgasm?

Why do men lose interest in the sexual activities or anything arousal in general extremely quickly after having an orgasm? How does function of being horny work? How are genitals connected to our decision making capabilities? Why sexual release can change things this fast and this drastically?

It would be funny if I find out I am the only one,
but I assume I am not since all the gags and posts about “post nut clarity” or finding the “content” you are watching becoming unbearable right after you come.

Trust me, it is not like that for everyone all the time, sometime you want to rub another one out.
I guess one way to think about it is:

Orgasm and the feeling of pleasure when approaching an orgasm/ejaculation has the evolutionary purpose of ejecting seed, so after you came, the pleasure is imediatly dampened, there is no further benefit since all of it is ejected.

(If it wouldn’t, a man, who’s sexual arousal on average is more prominent than a woman’s would probably do nothing else otherwise.
Additionally the missing refractory period in women is evultionarily beneficial because there could be more mating partners or maybe even because the contractions of an orgasm are beneficial in transporting semen into the uterus.
This is described by the term “Upsuck”. Although in Pigs “upsuck” is indeed a thing, meaning an orgasming pig will to some degree suck semen into its uterus. It has scientifically disregarded in Human females. )

So because this refractory period exist and the pleasure subsides, It is also logical that the feeling of horniness usually subsides once you cannot feel pleasure or cum anymore at that time. Just like it would be frustrating to still feel hungry when your Stomach is already full/ or you’d feel like shitting if your bowels are already empty.

In some cases However, just like there could be an hunger that is bigger than your stomach, the feeling of horniness can surpass this mechanism.

But on another level: yes, it feels weird that there is an immediate psychological effect, but I guess the same idea goes for an intravenous injection of (I guess it was adrenaline) There is a chemical that controls our decision making and perception.
The instant fear chemical, Haha.

Well in the case of horniness and orgasm, the feeling of horniness is both initiated – and after orgasm supressed after orgasm, until theoretically the sperm reservoir is again full enough.
