Why do most electronics that run on two batteries require you to have them facing alternating directions?
In:
batteries come at fixed voltages (1.5v), however most electronics need higher voltage to function.
You can stack batteries to increase the total voltage supplied. It is mechanically easier to build the stack when the connecting sides of the batteries are already laying close.
