Why do most snacks (not the healthy type, the classics – M&Ms, Hershey’s, Reese’s, Nutella etc) range between 450-500kcal per 100g? It’s never 300 or 600, is there something around this 450kcal content?

Because they’re mostly sugar and carbohydrates (sugar) is 4 calories per gram = 400 calories, and there is usually 10-20% of fat, which is 9 calories per gram, bringing into that range.
