It’s a combination of being tuned for performance, a shorter less silenced exhaust, arrangement of the cylinders v rather than in line flat or straight. Also there is no engine bay to muffle the sound.

It can be silent, the sport bikes aren’t loud from the factory. The ones that are have different mufflers because people seem to like it. And Harley type bikes are for people who like to be deaf
