why do movie producers keep a lot of secrets around a movie and not even releasing its name or anything about the movie, and make its cast and crew to sign an NDA, I mean if they’re eventually gonna release a trailer and promote the film why the secrecy?

Information becomes more valuable the fewer people have access to it.

There is no reason to voluntarily give up an information monopoly. If I’m going through the trouble of creating a promotion campaign for a product then I want people to pay attention to that and *only* that. The more alternative sources of information there are the fewer people will consume *my* promotional material.
