there’s actually a name for it: wordnesia. when you’re reading, a very practised part of the brain responds automatically. when “wordnesia” happens, it could be a glitch (so to speak) in the brain that causes conscious monitoring to happen and turns off the auto pilot reading. when you engage in the conscious monitoring of the parts that should be automatic, you get a hiccup which makes the work look as though it’s spelled incorrectly.
