Why do our muscles twitch involuntarily?

Why do they seem to suddenly have spasms? As I was browsing reddit with my phone it started to happen with the little pad under the pinky, and let me tell you seeing your muscles move by themselves is weeeird.

It also happens to me in the quads if I recall correctly.

It’s kind of like getting the hiccups. They’re involuntary nerve impulses that are going and activating your muscles.

Think of you body like a big organic machine, like a car, or maybe a big organic computer. With the ability to fix itself. Every once in a while a part malfunctions or a glitch happens. Spasms are evidence on that.
