Why do people get stressed about things and pressure themselves about the deadline and then fail to progress in said project due to the same pressure?

Like people saying they need to do all sorts of things but end up doing nothing but stresding themselves instead?

Probably, because stress reactions evolved as a part of “fight or flight” response, not to help people perform complex, creative tasks.

This is a big question and probably won’t apply the same to everyone.

Anxiety causes hyperfixation on the stressor, which theoretically motivates you to solve it. However, most “deadline” projects require creativity and lateral thinking, which anxiety inhibits because of the aforementioned hyperfixation.

So you get this kind of loop where you really want to work on a probldm because it’s stressing you out, but you don’t know what to do next brcause all you can think about is your stress.
