Why do people’s eyes change to the point that they need glasses? What’s causes an eyeball in a young, healthy individual to lose its clarity?

The lens gets harder as a person ages. The muscles which pull on the lens to focus it have to work harder, so the vision is still focussed but the person’s eyes start to ache at the end of the day.

Then the lens gets even harder, and now the muscles can’t get the lens to focus.

So basically, a lot of people are either short-sighted or long-sighted without realising it until they age.
