You don’t need to be rich to be clean. I can understand infrastructure issues and other government things but when you look at the rivers and streets there should be no reason they are that polluted with blatant trash like bottles wrappers plastic clothes etc.
Surely they can see what there doing? Indian people are some of the smartest people around. So why is it?

Its always a matter of perspective. I learned some time ago, that the US still uses landfills for trash. Where i live that is not imaginable. All the trash that cannot be recycled here will be used for power generation and with modern filters at least only produces CO2 and saves some coal/gas that would have to be used otherwise for power.
