They’ll take their prey down from the neck where possible to kill it but when it’s nomnom time they go towards the bumbum

To be crude, it’s a pre-made opening into the organs that doesn’t have teeth, and therefore easiest access to nutritious organs. Also generally the front half of an animal is the fighty part, the back half is the mating part, and mating-parts are less durable than fighting parts
