Why do reverse kinks happen at random points when a coiled cord is pulled straight, and is there an easy way to undo them?

I’m talking about phone cords like [this](https://external-preview.redd.it/l6EY6iy7qewdf0NOJawX88AL4YR09LfbGcnu4iam73I.png?auto=webp&s=b43efa75d421ba5cb68b9c48e7bd7309fe2d458f) but I have a current issue with a hose made the same way. I tried [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeSycf6A7pI) that keeps coming up and it doesn’t work, so I would like to see if anyone has an explanation so I can know what’s causing it in the first place to maybe help me understand how to undo it.

Unhook the cord, on the side closest to the kink. Then simply wind the cord so that it follows the correct coil pattern. The kink will get pushed down along the way as you go, so you probably just need to rewind the whole section of cord.
