The red, white and blue combination is often a symbol of unity.

Many organisations, clubs and even businesses will have a dominant identity colour of either red or blue. When this happens, their rival will often choose the opposite. Think Coke is red, so Pepsi is blue.

When countries unify they often combine these colours on their flags to show unity amongst previously rival groups, and white is used to signify the peace between them (or to simply balance the flag design).
