Weird question, bear with me.
I’ve seen a few plays and musicals live, and I’ve noticed that a lot of the time they’ll focus the action in the centre of the stage and one side. It feels a little like you’re getting short changed if you take a seat at the front if you’re not on the side that’s being favoured, since the blocking often means you can’t actually see what’s happening if they’re focused elsewhere.
Is there a specific reason that so many plays/musicals/live performances are designed in a way that puts so much focus on one side of the stage?
