Why do some 1080p videos in youtube looks just real, when others that are supposed to have the same quality and fps look awful??

I don’t get it truly, specially when people who make them is living out of it. A good camera is not that unaffordable, ain’t it?? Why there’s even people out there still making videos under 4k when they have hundreds of thousands or millions of subs?

Pixel ratios are a relative measure. What actually determines the quality of a video, is the pixel count of the sensor: measured in megapixels. If the sensor only has 10 megapixels, that video is going to look terrible on a 4k monitor, compared to a camera with 16 megapixels. Resolution also isn’t the only factor for quality, exposure is too. Poor lighting means there won’t be enough information to build a proper image.

Well since I’m talking to a 5 year old. It costs too much, it takes too much time, it takes up way more storage, it doesn’t benefit a great percentage of the audience etc. anything above 1440 really isn’t in there best interest and most do 1080 just bc. Of course some enthusiasts and other channels film and output in 4k. Then there’s the fact that YouTube servers aren’t usually pushing true 4k and instead sampling or something like that. If I’m wrong pls tell me, I just can’t sleep due to time change 😵‍💫

Also, if they already have millions of subs, perhaps the *actual content* is good, regardless of pixelation? You’ll be astonished to know that we once watched content that came in via coaxial cable at SD. Or over the air. Sometimes without color.

The better the camera, the more settings there are and the more chance to f things up.

Lighting plays a huge role in the image quality.

Color grading also plays a huge role.

Some people don’t have the time nor the knowledge to deal with these things. Also depends on their demo, it’d look pretty weird for Cr1TiKaL to start making videos that looked super high production.

As for resolution, maybe they don’t want say 60fps and don’t want to shell out >$2000 for a newer high-end interchangeable lens camera that can do both 4K & 60fps. A Sony A7SIII costs money.
