Why do some chocolates take on the taste of other candy when they sit in a bowl together?

It’s kind of the same reason that uncovered butter takes on the taste of other stuff in your fridge…fat tends to be pretty good at sponging up flavour molecules from the environment. And chocolate has a bunch of fat (“cocoa butter”) in it.
