A brain region called the “anterior cingulate cortex” regulates emotional reactions. When you experience heightened stress, this part of the brain can increase the activity of the “vagus nerve”. This is the longest nerve of the autonomic nervous sytem. It connects from the brain stem to the neck, chest, and abdomen. Overstimulation of this nerve causes pain and nausea.

Well, here I go again. Likely will get downvoted but I don’t care.

I want to answer your question. It’s about flow. When we close to flow, we get the discomfort and pain. We have an experience that we don’t like and the ego says “screw them/that” and shuts down flow. Flow of what? You can call it love or energy or whatever. The heart center (not the actual heart) closes partially. This restriction inhibits this energy from operating normally, which then causes pain.
If you are interested, study chakras.

Open to the flow of life. Forgive and live.
