Why do some men go bald from the hairline and others go bald from the crown?

Is there a biological reason that some men go bald from their hairline and some men go bald from their crown?

I’ve seen some men that look fine from the front and then they’ll have a bald patch on the back.

Or, like me, my hairline is going back but my crown is still full and thick.

The reason I heard that makes the most sense is that these patterns of hair loss match the patterns of scalp tightness exhibited in those men. Some men have tight scalps at the crown, some have it at the hair line. See this explanation:

Please be aware that this explanation is controversial. But it makes sense to me. Tension on the scalp artificially applied, such as in certain hairdos, can result in “[traction alopecia](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK470434/)”, induced hair loss due to applied tension.
