This reminded me of a new Apple ad they have out now, where the beginning is the traditional iPhone alarm sound. It makes me jolt every freaking time because I think I am missing something important. I think shows/movies/ads may just do it to get our attention.

This is a trick in modern sound systems. The sound is played on different parts of the sound bar or surround sound system at very slightly different volumes and times. They 1 millisecond delay added to the left speaker as compared to the right speaker tricks your brain into thinking the sound is far away or coming from a specific direction.
