Our mind regulates our perception and consciousness based off of our current, state, mood, emotions, goals, motivations, habits, previous memories etc. So anything you perceive can be altered from reality to “better” suit your current situation.

Obviously doesn’t flow faster or slower for anyone on Earth. It’s our perception of time that changes.

The simple answer is its based on your boredom.

The longer simple answer is that when you’re bored you have less to focus on and your mind is looking for stimulation. This makes you realize that some time has passes since you were really able to focus on something then you realize that not much time has passed since the last time you through about the time passing. Much of this happens subliminally so you don’t even realize what you’re thinking except that something is taking forever.

You can replace ‘boredom’ with any other situation or feeling that is not pleasurable.
