At sunrise and sunset the sun’s rays pass through a lot more of Earth’s atmosphere than during the rest of the day. Earth’s atmosphere scatters blue light. When the remaining light illuminates nearby clouds, they appear to be whatever colors remain. During summer, forest fires tend to scatter even more colours, meaning the light that meets the clouds is even more orange/pink/red than in other seasons.
