Why do things tend to have a worse odor when it’s hot vs cold?

When it’s warm it gives off more heat. This excites the air. When the air is excited scents move quicker. When things are cold they don’t excite the air so it doesn’t move as fast. Let’s say both things smell equally so the hot will be smelled and the cold will not.
