Why do truffles provide such a strange mouthfeel after eating them?

Obviously it’s part of it’s high regard, but what chemical reaction creates that wonderful numbing and soft mouthfeel?

I’m not sure, but generally, a numbing feeling is *not* what you want after eating a food. Be careful out there.
