Why do we close our eyes when we sneeze?

So we don’t blow our eyeballs out of their socket. Closing your eyes when you sneeze is an automatic reaction to protect you from this. Or at least that’s what I was told. Probably wrong tho, probably has more to do with Germs or why our our legs kick when a doctor does a reflex test.
