Why do we get emotional when an anime or show ends, even when we know the characters or settings aren’t real?

Cos our brains process logic and emotion separately. The clever human part of your brain knows they’re not real, but the dumb ape part of your brain is incapable of distinguishing between a real person and a fictional person. To your dumb ape brain, this is a bunch of friends you’ll never see again.
