I’m going to handwave and just say it’s evolution man. Our reward system is hooked up to the brain in all sorts of ways. I get chills to music, good movies, the cheesy gordita crunch at taco bell. In caves, the dude who figured out that sticks with holes make cool sounds probably had a lot of other cavedudes gather around and marvel at the sight. It built communities, a trait found to be evolutionarily advantageous for our species, as well as other sapiens like monkeys and gorillas.
Even now, music does a lot to develop a sense of community in people. People who listen to the same music as you feel like they belong to your tribe. We are metalheads, rave attendees, rnb girlbosses, and so on.
