Walking downhill is still harder than on a leveled surface. Both walking uphill and downhill requires more energy than walking on a leveled surface.

When you think about it, walking uphill and downhill both require you to exert more energy to push yourself up. If you don’t do this walking downhill you will fall and roll down the hill.

Whereas walking on a leveled surface you are not working against your own weight as much.
