Why do we need pillows?

Did our ancestors always sleep with an arm under their head? Why do we need to elevate our heads to sleep?

Why does the pillow being soft matter?

we dont NEED pillows… we’ve grown accustom to them/the idea of them

also – natural curvature of the human body encourages them

We don’t need pillows we’re accustom to them.

We use pillows out of habit because “we’re supposed to” as that’s what we consider normal.

We’re surrounded by the man made. The majority of items in your life are man made therefore we choose to use them.

We aren’t supposed to sleep in beds as they’re an invention, we choose to and it normalized. Beds caught on because we liked them and now it’s strange to do anything else isn’t it.

Pillows? same thing they were invented and normalized.

Interestingly Ancient Egyptians used hard headrests, often made of wood, so the pillow replaced another invention which had become normalized….. at least for Egypt that is.
