How you feel when you wake up has more to do with sleep cycles than length of sleep. If you wake up while you’re transitioning to lighter sleep, you will wake up easier and fresher. If you wake up (i.e. alarm) during much deeper sleep, you will have a harder wake up and feel less refreshed. Ideally, set a consistent sleep time and wake up time and adjust as needed, in like 15-20m intervals, to find the best wake up sweetspot for you.

We are built for around 7-8 hours of sleep for optimal brain functioning. Oversleeping can cause significant sleep inertia after waking that can take a longer time to get yourself out of.

When you oversleep you are probably going to stay up late the next day bc you are tired but can’t fall asleep. And then your sleep cycle is disturbed and you probably feel tired bc of that.
