Why do we urinate when we are dehydrated?

Would it not be more optimal for the body to only release fluids when there is an abundance of it?

Your kidneys need to continue to filter your blood. You still produce waste even when you’re dehydrated. If your body stops metabolizing, thats when you die.

Your kidneys are one of the first to suffer when you are severely dehydrated because its really bad for them to filter with limited water.

Regardless of hydration status, your heart continues to pump which creates blood pressure. The vessels like arteries ans veins also connects to the kidneys and with pressure filtrates through.

You still have crap in your body that needs removed. The kidney doesn’t JUST remove water.

You die of blood toxicity fairly quickly (couple days) if your kidneys stop working.
