Why do we use the air recirculation for the summertime AC in the car. Then, in the wintertime, we don’t use that button?

A/C in a car takes a lot of energy, because you’re using a compressor to move heat from cold to hot when it wants to flow the other way. If it’s hotter outside than it is in the car, recirculating inside air will save energy.

Heat in a car uses waste heat from the engine, which is why it takes a few minutes to use. A car’s engine is constantly generating extra heat from tiny fuel explosions, so it’s no waste to use it.
