Why do we (usually) feel no pain while we’re sleeping?

Usually, when someone has a stomachache or a headache, they don’t feel it when they’re sleeping. When they wake up, they feel it again.

EDIT: Maybe i’m just a heavy sleeper lol

Have someone stab you while you’re sleeping, you’ll sure as hell feel it. .

but fr, nociceptors (pain receptors in your nervous system) wouldn’t fire up as much signals as they do when you’re awake, think of it as your brain forcing you to relax, so say a mosquito bites you while you’re sleeping, the nerves connecting your skin to the pain receptors won’t send as much signals as they would if you’re up.

But, some people do feel pain, people would wake up from a migraine for example, or just simple period cramps..
