Why do you get random pockets of cold water in the bath if you don’t mix it for a while?

Even after giving it a good mix, if I leave the cold water running in the bath for a few minutes, these little pockets of cold water stay there instead of all the water in the bath becoming one average temperature

If you put a bunch of cold water in one end of the bath, it’ll diffuse quite slowly. Water isn’t a good heat conductor, so unless you mix it around it’ll take a long time for it to equalise. If you leave it for a really long time it will eventually become equal, but that time is far longer than anything normally associated with a bath.
