Edit just to clear up: I don’t have a positive or negative opinion on HOAs. I know next to nothing about them. They’ve just been mentioned to me a few times by family members recently and I asked about aspect I didn’t understand

If you know nothing about HOA’s and how they operate, you will be in for a VERY big surprise when you finally read the contract and realize your rights have been usurped by the Karens/Kevins running the HOA and telling you you can only have ‘in season’ plants in your front yard, or some other B.S. .
