Why do you look pale if you are ill?

Title says it all. Especially if you have a fever, looking red seems more logical than looking pale?

That tends to be because blood is being directed somewhere else, causing your skin to lose its color. Your immune response to an infection causes blood vessels to constrict so as to restrict the blood flow so it can treat it.
