Why does a dibetic person become unresponsable when they have low blood sugar?

What I mean is that you might tell them an important piece of information but they forget it right away or similar things.

Sugar is the fuel of your body. Without fuel you start acting funny and if your blood sugar gets too low you can die. But it’s still about fuel.

Just like if your car starts running out of gas it starts sputtering. Then if you don’t fill it up soon it dies. Same with the human body and blood sugar.

Normal blood sugar is 80 to 120. Under 80 you start having issues. Really low and you have a coma. Don’t get help you die.

It would happen to *anyone* with very low blood sugar–it’s the fuel for the cells, and if there isn’t enough of it around the cells start starving and don’t perform efficiently. The reason it happens more often with Type 1 diabetics is because they inject insulin to absorb the sugar in their blood and prevent it going too high, and if they over-estimate how much they need they can suffer a sugar crash. Colleague of mine who’s Type 1 makes sure he always has a chocolate bar or something like that to hand so he can eat it if he feels a sugar crash coming on.

Diabetics who inject fast acting insulin can get very low blood sugar. Those that are T1 need insulin everytinr they eat, so they have to calculate how many carbs they eat and inject accordingly.
