And why do some carriers (such as Visible) support the Apple Watch but not the other smartwatches with eSIM capability?

There is absolutely no technical requirement for a smartwatch eSIM to be tied to the phone, It’s only because Apple does not think having a totally standalone smartwatch make sense, so the software is designed with tied operation in mind.

For the carrier support, could be the smartwatch supporting less radio bands, or purely a business deal thing.
