If you any active chemical in your system that alters the homoestasis, why does this chemical eventually leave the body? What prevents it from staying in the body forever?
You’re right that most substances eventually leave the body. There are a few oddballs, though, that can build up and cause problems. Think of mercury or lead. Being elements, they can’t be broken down themselves and the body doesn’t do a great job at getting rid of them.
