The fluid normally allowing many of them to move smoothly thickens which is thought to be why they “creak.” Muscles tighten and damaged/inflamed nerves become more reactive. Evidently barometric pressure lowering from weather events expands joint tissues slightly for more pressure. Personally my cartilage swelling issues are brought about by cold weather the majority of the time so that can make not just the joints but even things like the ribs put pressure on the space they’re in. For reasons we’ve only been able to speculate, this is all apparently worse in higher humidity.
