Why does cardio improve heart health and not worsen it

Hello,
When I do cardio my heart rate climbs twice to about 150-160bpm. People say that it’s actually good for your health and well being of heart. How does making the heart work twice as fast help it instead of hurting it?

Your heart is a muscle and exercise improves its performance the same as any other.

Through cardio, your heart will become more efficient at pumping blood and your entire circulatory system will get better at oxygenating and transporting your blood throughout your body
