Why does Coca Cola taste so different (Better) in a glass bottle as opposed to a plastic bottle

I’ve heard some vague generalities around this but if someone could explain it would be appreciated!

It’s likely due to Coke in glass bottles being able to handle a higher level of carbonation than a plastic bottle. The same is true of drinks on tap—higher carbonation.

Do a test, pour the plastic bottle coke into a glass, and pour some glass bottled coke into a glass and give them to someone else to drink. See if they can tell the difference.

My bet is they can’t.

If it’s from the same bottling plant then it’s the same inside.
Most of the difference is mouth feel and how the gas reacts with the surface of drinking vessel.

Some cokes that come in a glass bottle are made with real sugar. I’ve always called them “mexican cokes” because they are imported from mexico. Plastic bottle and metal can cokes use artificial sweeteners, which have a different taste.
