Why Does Cold Weather Makes Me Have to Urinate?

Tonight as I was walking from my car into the supermarket, I suddenly felt like I desperately had to urinate, and rushed into the supermarket to find the restroom.

This is far from the first time being out in the cold had brought about a desperate urge to urinate, and I thought maybe I should ask this group why that is, and if it’s normal for adults, adult men, older men, or if it’s just me somehow….

Cold weather can cause the urge to urinate more frequently in some people. This is because when your body is exposed to cold temperatures, it tries to maintain a constant internal temperature by constricting your blood vessels. This can cause your kidneys to produce more urine, which in turn can lead to a feeling of needing to urinate more often.

In addition, cold weather can also cause your body to produce more vasopressin, a hormone that helps to regulate the amount of water in your body. When your body produces more vasopressin, it can cause your kidneys to produce less urine, which can lead to a feeling of needing to urinate more frequently.

Overall, the urge to urinate more frequently in cold weather is a normal response to the changes in your body’s temperature regulation and hormone levels. It is not a cause for concern, but if it becomes bothersome, you may want to talk to your doctor about it.
