Why Does Cold Weather Makes Me Have to Urinate?

Tonight as I was walking from my car into the supermarket, I suddenly felt like I desperately had to urinate, and rushed into the supermarket to find the restroom.

This is far from the first time being out in the cold had brought about a desperate urge to urinate, and I thought maybe I should ask this group why that is, and if it’s normal for adults, adult men, older men, or if it’s just me somehow….

When it is it cold, one way your body tries to conserve heat is by decreasing blood flow to your bladder, which can make you feel like you need to urinate more frequently. This is because when blood flow to your bladder is reduced, the muscles in your bladder relax and expand, causing you to feel the urge to urinate more often. Additionally, when you are exposed to cold weather, your body may also produce more urine in an effort to stay hydrated and maintain its internal temperature. This can further contribute to the feeling of needing to urinate more frequently.
