Why does dishwashers have such a well designed pod-boxes if it dumps the pod on the ground?

Does it really matter where you put your dishwasher pod? I have always put the pod in the box and closed it but does it do any difference than just dumping it on the dishwasher floor?

The dishwasher has two cycles with completely different water in each one. The first is a short prewash to get rid of the bulk of the easily soluble food. This one should have some detergent which you can just place in the dishwasher. Then the water is completely changed for fresh water then the door opens and the detergent you put in and closed the door get released. If you use a pod this is the only step that gets soap which means it has to do extra work to make up for the dishwasher starting with a rinse step rather than a preclean.

The pods are a convenient lie that are really marketable but not better.
