Why does drinking soda through paper straws change the taste and texture?

The inside of a paper straw is not as smooth as plastic. This causes the c02 dissolved in the soda, to come out of solution. Similar to what happens when you shake it. Causing you to experience a more airy and “creamy” texture. This would likely dilute the flavour as there is a lower density.
